Dr. Hakim is an experienced in General Surgeon specializing in Breast and Endocrine Surgery. He is highly regarded for pioneering advanced, minimally invasive endocrine surgical techniques in Malaysia. After earning his MBChB from the University of Dundee, Scotland in 1997, and completing his Master of Surgery at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2005, he pursued subspecialty training in Breast & Endocrine surgery in MOH followed by a prestigious Endocrine Surgery Fellowship at Yonsei University in South Korea. During this fellowship, he trained extensively in endoscopic and robotic thyroidectomy, subsequently returning to introduce these innovative procedures—including the highly specialized Transoral Endoscopic Thyroidectomy via the Vestibular Approach (TOETVA)—to the Malaysian medical landscape. He currently serves as the Head of the Department of Surgery at Hospital Kuala Lumpur, alongside sessional consultant roles at select private health institutions in Kuala Lumpur. Dr. Hakim is profoundly committed to both elevating patient care and mentoring the next generation of surgeons as seen in his roles as the MOH coordinator for the Master of General Surgery programme, trainer in the Breast & Endocrine Surgery subspecialty training programme as well as being one of the  directors for NPMC Training-the-Trainers for the surgical fraternity.
