Doctor Alexander Tan is Consultant Endocrinologist at Sunway Medical Centre. Doctor Tan graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2001, became a member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCPUK) in 2005 and completed his subspecialty endocrinology training in 2010. He was elected to be a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) of Edinburgh in 2016. He was instrumental in the formation of the Diabetes Care Unit at University of Malaya Medical Centre, a one-stop centre for all diabetes related clinical services. He has presented research in the fields of diabetes mellitus and bone health at both local and international conferences. He has also been Principal Investigator for numerous clinical trials. Doctor Tan is actively involved in speaking at various local and national level conferences.

Attained RCPCH, UK paediatrician certification in 2012. Completed subspecialty training in 2022 and did the fellowship training in Singapore KK Women and Children’s Hospital in 2021. Paediatric Endocrinologist at Hospital Putrajaya in 2022, and Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Klang in 2023. Did a few studies and publications on the use of Growth hormone treatment, bisphosphonates, and early puberty in children during the fellowship.
Dr. Arini Nuran is a Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist currently working in Hospital Tunku Azizah, Kuala Lumpur. She graduated from University of Leicester Medical School and obtained her Masters in Paediatrics from National University of Malaysia. Following this, she completed her Fellowship in Paediatric Endocrinology in Malaysia and attained NSR registration. Apart from clinical work, Dr. Arini is involved in research, teaching and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students. She is trainer and a member of the Paediatric Endocrine Subspecialty Training Program Committee.
Dr. Azhari Rosman, Senior Consultant Cardiologist at the National Heart Institute (IJN), is a distinguished fellow of FACC, FESC & FRCP. He currently chairs the CPR Faculty and serves as the Director of Customer Experience at IJN, alongside roles in the Malaysian Specialty Sub-Committee for Cardiology (SSC). Formerly President of the National Heart Association of Malaysia and other esteemed societies, he now holds positions including Vice-President of the Malaysian Resuscitation Council and Asia Pacific Society of Cardiology. Dr. Rosman's expertise spans interventional cardiology and cardiovascular risk factors, with extensive involvement in landmark trials and international registries.
Dr Azraai Nasruddin is a Consultant Endocrinologist at Hospital Putrajaya. He has a wide interest in endocrinology, particularly in the area of thyroid, adrenal and pituitary disease. He also has a dynamic interest in health informatics and process optimisation
Associate Professor Dr. Azriyanti Anuar Zaini holds the position of Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Paediatric, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. She continues to contribute to the field through her clinical practice, research, and training of future pediatric endocrinologists. Dr Azriyanti completed her training and fellowship in paediatric endocrine (Malaysia & Oxford) and became a full-time consultant since 2015. Dr. Azriyanti's contributions extend beyond her clinical work. She has authored several books and published numerous scientific articles in reputable journals, addressing various aspects of pediatric endocrinology, such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, and growth disorders. Her insights and contributions have helped shape the field of paediatric endocrinology and improve patient care.
Dr SP Chan graduated from the University of Malaya Kuala Lumpur. She is a Consultant Endocrinologist, currently holding an Honorary Professorship at the Department of Medicine, University of Malaya Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She also practices at Subang Jaya Medical Centre, Selangor, Malaysia. She has spent most of her career in academia, teaching and molding the minds of future Doctors and is proud to count many Senior Consultants and Professors who were her students! As an academician, she has conducted numerous research in the field of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Osteoporosis, largely in the area of epidemiology of non-communicable disease, gestational diabetes, and postmenopausal osteoporosis. She has also been involved in Phase 2 and 3 clinical trials in diabetes and osteoporosis. She is currently the Chairperson of the 2020 Malaysian Clinical Practice guidelines for management of Type 2 Diabetes mellitus. She has also been a member / chairperson of other taskforce groups for the development of Malaysian Clinical Practice Guidelines on cardiovascular disease, as well as osteoporosis. She has been invited to sit on various Advisory Boards on Diabetes and Osteoporosis, at the local level as well as regional (Asia-Pacific). She is the past president of Diabetes Malaysia, President of Malaysian Osteoporosis Society and now holds the position of President, Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society, 2020-2022.She continues to actively publish in International and Regional journals on diabetes and osteoporosis. Teaching and education continues to be her passion and so, you will find her speaking at National and International Diabetes, Endocrine and Osteoporosis Conferences.
Dr Chan is Professor of Medicine, Director of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at the University of Malaya, the University of Malaya Medical Centre and the University of Malaya Specialist Centre. He served as an Executive Committee Member for the Malaysian Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (MSGH) between 2015 and 2021. He was the Scientific Co-Chair and a core member of the Organizing Committee for the Asian Pacific Digestive Week (APDW) 2021. He completed two terms as Associate Editor for the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology between 2018 and 2023, and is a current member of the Editorial Board for Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and Clinical and Molecular Hepatology. Besides being an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal and liver diseases, he is passionate about diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including endoscopic ultrasonography and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.
Prof Dr Chin Ai- Vyrn is a Senior Consultant Geriatrician and Professor of Geriatric Medicine. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate training in UK and Ireland before returning to Malaysia. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh and has a Doctorate in Medicine from Trinity College, Dublin. He is a founder member of the Malaysian Society of Geriatric Medicine as well as the Ageing and Age Associated Research group at University Malaya. Prof Chin is the head of Geriatric Medicine at University Malaya and is very much involved in teaching, research and clinical work. Despite the difficulties and challenges, he remains committed to the development of Geriatric Medicine in Malaysia.
Professor Rajasoorya has served in various leadership, administrative, examiner and clinical roles involving medical education at the institution and national levels. He is dual certified with clinical practice involving both Endocrinology (with particular interest in hypothalamic-pituitary disorders) and General Internal Medicine. Besides clinical medicine he has special interests in clinical reasoning, the doctor-patient relationship and value-driven and meaningful medical care. He has published widely and received numerous accolades and teaching awards including the inaugural National Medical Excellence Clinician Educator Award in 2011 for outstanding contribution and exemplary passion for imparting medical knowledge to the next generation of clinicians. He is also the recipient of the Distinguished Senior Clinician Award in 2016 and was induced into the Hall of Master Academic Clinicians in 2023 of Duke-National University of Singapore Medical School.
Dr Florence Tan graduated from University of New South Wales, Australia with first class honours. She obtained her MRCP in UK Edinburgh and underwent her subspecialty training in Endocrinology in National University Singapore. She is currently consultant endocrinologist and head of the endocrine unit at Sarawak General Hospital
Dr Foo Siew Hui is the Head of Endocrine Unit at Selayang Hospital. She is also practicing as a visiting Consultant Endocrinologist at Subang Jaya Medical Centre. Dr Foo completed her basic medical degree in 1999 with Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery (MBBS, 1st class honors) at University of Sydney, Australia followed by MRCP from United Kingdom in 2004. She obtained the Fellowship in Endocrinology in 2009 and started the endocrine service at Selayang Hospital in 2010. She is currently the Honorary Treasurer of the Malaysian Endocrine & Metabolic Society. She also serves as a trainer for the Ministry of Health Endocrinology Subspecialty Fellowship training and member of the task force for various national guidelines in diabetes and thyroid disorders. She is committed in continuous medical education by being involved actively in numerous workshops, seminars, conferences, forums and public health campaign at the state, national and regional level.
I come from Banting where I completed primary and secondary school education. Obtained undergraduate MBBS degree from University of Malaya in 2010. Subsequently served in Sabah for 8 years as a house officer, medical officer and specialist. Gained invaluable experience both in medicine and in life while serving at Hospital Queen Elizabeth and Hospital Keningau. Obtained postgraduate degree, MRCP (UK) in 2015 and completed gazettement in Hospital Queen Elizabeth. Was inspired to pursue the field of Endocrinology by Dr. Fung who was then the consultant endocrinologist at HQE. Started fellowship in Endocrinology in 2018. Served at HRPZ(Kelantan), HTAA(Kuantan), HKL, HPJ and HUKM during fellowship training. Upon completion of fellowship, had the opportunity to join a 9-month clinical attachment with Dr. Ann McCormack at St.Vincent University Hospital in Sydney. Have published in local and international journals. Currently serving as an endocrinologist at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
Prof. Goh is the Head and Senior Consultant Nephrologist Hospital Serdang. He chairs the Malaysian Society of Nephrology (MSN) fellowship training programme, MOH National Transplantation Policy and MOH Handbook of KRT review committee. He is a member of Nephrology Subspecialty Education Subcommittee of the Malaysian Medical Council. Prof Goh was the President of MSN from 2016-2018 and the Editor of Malaysian Dialysis & Transplant Registry 2012-2022. He was the chairs of the organising committees for the 1st Asia Pacific Congress of AKI CRRT, Congress of Asian Society of Transplantation (CAST) 2021, and the first ISN World Congress of Nephrology in Malaysia. He is the advisor for the 2025 ISPD Asia Chapter Meeting’s organising committee. He was a member of ISPD Advisory Board member on PD Access. He was also member of KDIGO CKD-MBD Controversies in Milan and the Chief Editor of the 1st Malaysian CKD-MBD & Parathyroidectomy Guidelines and SOP.
Dr. Hairuddin received his radiology training in University Malaya in 2013-2017 before completing his FRCR (Fellowship of The Royal College of Radiologists) in the United Kingdom in 2018. He subsequently proceeded with his neuroradiology training under the Ministry of Health (MOH) fellowship program in 2019 which he completed in 2023. During this period, he also had a 1-year training in the fellowship program of Neurointervention and Imaging Services of Western Australia (NIISWA).
He qualified from medicine in the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1987. He was awarded the Fellow of Royal College of Physician in Edinburgh (FRCP) in 1998 and the Fellow of the Australasian College of Physician (FRACP) in 1996. He obtained the Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Melbourne in 1997. He was the recipient of the National Australian Postgraduate Scholarship and the Novo Nordisk Scholarship from the University of Melbourne. In 1996 he joined University of Malaya as a lecturer where he founded the Lipid Research Laboratory. In 1999, he was promoted to Associate Professor of the Department of Medicine. He Joined Subang Jaya Medical Centre in 2002 and is a founding member of Puchong Medical Specialist Centre where he remains active in both centres. He has published 55 papers in peer reviewed journals and remains active in research particularly in the field of diabetes mellitus and osteoporosis. Apart from being a visiting lecturer in the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Tunku Abdul Rahman(UTAR), he is also a member of the Board of Directors for the UTAR Teaching Hospital in Kampar, Perak. He has been a member of committee of various Clinical Practice Guidelines in Malaysia including Diabetes Mellitus, Osteoporosis, Thyroid Disease and Growth Hormone. He is the Past President of both the Malaysian Osteoporosis Society and the Asian Federation of Osteoporosis Societies and remains in the council for both the organsations. He rejoins the council of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolism Society this year and heads the sub committee for Research Grant. He is the Chairman of the Independent Ethics Committee in SJMC since its inception. He was also a member of the Medical Advisory Board from 2007-2011 for which he held the post of Secretary from 2009-2011.
Dr Hiew Fu Liong completed his undergraduate education at International Medical University (IMU), Malaysia. He subsequently completed his post graduate study in Internal medicine in 2009 [MRCP (UK), MMed (S'pore)] and obtained his Fellowship in Neurology from Ministry of Health, Malaysia in 2016. He is now one of the neurologists in Sunway Medical Centre, Malaysia
Dr. Jeanne Wong Sze Lyn specializes in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology. Graduating with distinction from the University of Malaya in 2004, she obtained her pediatric specialist qualifications (MRCPCH UK) in 2009 and completed a sub-specialty fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology in Malaysia and Sydney, Australia in 2016. With expertise in neonatal and childhood diseases, general pediatrics, vaccinations, and endocrine conditions (age 0-18 years), her focus includes diabetes, thyroid disorders, growth issues, puberty, bone health, calcium disorders, pituitary, adrenal, hypoglycemia, obesity, and sex development. Dr. Jeanne is passionate about children's health education. She has contributed to various medical protocols and guidelines and is a monthly columnist for the Sunday Star newspaper's health column titled "Hormones and Kids." Her research publications cover topics including diabetes and thyroid disorders. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Jeanne is actively involved in professional organizations, serving as the Paediatric Scientific Co-chairperson for the Annual Malaysian Endocrine & Metabolic Society (MEMS) Congress 2023 and holding roles in various committees related to pediatric endocrinology. She has been recognized with excellence awards for her service in pediatric departments at several hospitals.
Dr. Joyce Hong obtained her MBBS from the International Medical University and subsequently her Masters in Medicine (Paediatrics) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She went on to complete her subspecialty training in Paediatric Endocrinology, including a fellowship stint with Starship Children’s Hospital and University of Auckland, New Zealand. She is now a practicing paediatric endocrinologist at Hospital Pakar Kanak-kanak UKM
Dr Lee Yee Lin is a Senior Lecturer, Consultant Paediatrician and Paediatric Endocrinologist at Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (HSAAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia. She obtained her MBBS degree in University of Melbourne in 2000 and MRCPCH (UK) qualification in 2010. She later completed her paediatric endocrinology training in 2018 at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC) and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Singapore. Her research interests include Turner syndrome, growth and puberty disorders, thyroid disorders, childhood diabetes and obesity. She is a member of Malaysia Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS) and Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES).
Dr. Lim is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Head of the Diabetes Care Unit, University of Malaya Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As a clinician-scientist, Dr. Lim’s major areas of interest are cardiometabolic medicine with translational and implementation science components. She sits on the Scientific Work Groups of the American Diabetes Association/European Association for the Study of Diabetes Precision Medicine in Diabetes Initiative (ADA/EASD PMDI) and The Lancet Commission on Diabetes, who provide authoritative resources in tackling the global epidemic of diabetes and related NCDs. She has published 100 peer-reviewed articles including high-impact journals e.g., The Lancet, Nature, Diabetes Care, and Science Bulletin. Dr. Lim has received several awards including the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University in 2022 and 2023. She is an Editorial Board Member of several Tier 1 Web of Science-indexed journals (BMC Medicine, Diabetes/Metabolism Research & Reviews, and Diabetes & Metabolism journal). She is also the MEMS Honorary Asst Secretary.
Dr Lim Poi Giok received her primary education in SRK Main Convent , Ipoh and secondary education in Bukit Bintang Girls School, Kuala Lumpur. She graduated from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical school, London in 1996 and obtained her MRCPCH from Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2001. She completed her fellowship in Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at Royal Children's Hospital , Brisbane after 2 years as a trainee in University Malaya Medical Center (UMMC) and Hospital University Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM). She is currently a Consultant Paediatrician and Paediatric Endocrinologist in Hospital Tunku Azizah (Woman and Children’s Hospital Kuala Lumpur) . She is involved in training future Paediatric Endocrinologists in Malaysia. Her research interest is in diabetes , growth and adrenal disorders in children.
Dr Lim Siang Chin is currently the resident consultant endocrinologist in Mahkota Medical Center. She graduated from National University of Malaysia in 1999 and obtained her specialist qualification of MRCP(UK) in 2002. She further subspecialized in the field of Endocrinology in 2006. She underwent her training as fellow in Putrajaya Hospital, University Malaya Medical Center, Monash Medical Center and Prince Henry's Institute of Medical Research in Melbourne, Australia. She gazettes as medical specialist by Ministry of Health Malaysia in 2004. She was GCP certified in 2005 and CMIA certified in 2009. She was also IOF Osteoporosis and BMD certified in Feb 2009. She was credentialed for Core Procedures in Endocrine Medicine in 2009. Apart from her clinical practice, she is also active in medical researches, drafting guidelines, giving teachings to medical students and lectures to doctors, paramedics and public.
Dr. Lim finished his undergraduate study in University of Malaya and obtain membership in Royal college of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2007. He completed Paediatric endocrinology training in both Malaysia and Singapore centres by 2103. He had since established paediatric endocrinology service in Sabah, and continue to be amazed by the endless interesting endocrine cases among Sabahan children.
Dr Loke Kah Yin is a senior consultant paediatrician and paediatric endocrinologist at the Department of Paediatrics, National University Hospital, Singapore. He received his paediatric endocrine training at the Children’s Hospital at Camperdown in Sydney and the Paediatric Endocrine Division, UCLA Medical Center. He has subsequently led the Paediatric Endocrine Division at the Department of Paediatrics, National University Hospital, for the past 32 years. His research interests include the genetics of congenital adrenal disorders.
Dato’ Dr. Mafauzy Mohamed is currently a Professor of Medicine and Senior Consultant Endocrinologist in Universiti Sains Malaysia. He was formerly the Assistant Vice-Cancellor, Director of Campus, Director of Hospital and Dean of Medicine in the same university in Kelantan, Malaysia. He obtained his M.B.B.S. from the University of Adelaide, Australia in 1980. He was appointed as a Lecturer after he received his M.R.C.P (UK) in 1985. He also obtained his Masters of Medical Sciences from University of Sheffield in 1987. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 1992. In 1996, he was admitted as Fellow of Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) and in 2000 he was promoted as full Professor of Medicine. He also received an Honorary Doctor of Medicine degree from International Medical University in 2017. In 2022 he was bestowed the Legacy Award by the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society for his lifetime contribution in this field. Dr. Mafauzy is actively involved in research and has to date obtained over 110 research grants mainly in the field of diabetes, dyslipidemia, and thyroid disorders. He has supervised over 25 postgraduate students and has published over 120 papers, presented over 110 papers and has been invited to give over 530 lectures. He is also involved in formulation of Clinical Practice Guidelines such as Malaysian Type 2 DM, Thyroid Disorders and Obesity and the International Diabetes Federation and Diabetes & Ramadan International Alliance - Diabetes and Ramadan Practical Guidelines.
Dato’ Dr. Malik Mumtaz is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Physician at Island Hospital in Penang. He graduated in 1991 from Universiti Sains Malaysia. His post-graduate training at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary was in mineral metabolism, endocrinology and nuclear medicine. He was lecturer at USM from 1998 to 2002 and He joined PMC as a senior lecturer in 2002 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2004. He began full time private practice at Island Hospital in 2008. Dr. Malik was Island Hospital Medical Advisory Committee Chairman from 2013-2016 He received the MRCP (U.K) in 1996, FRCP (Edinburgh) in 2003 and FRCP (Glasgow) in 2004. He is certified in bone densitometry. His main area of research is in diabetes, osteoporosis and endocrinology and he has been primary or co-investigator in more than 50 research projects and international clinical trials. His last study was the ARISE study which has recently been presented and published. He has published and presented extensively and contributes in regional and local CME activities. He has also been active in promoting public education in diabetes and endocrinology. He runs a Facebook and Instagram page under the handle Endo doc Penang. He is a member of the Malaysian Clinical Practice Guidelines committee for osteoporosis and diabetes mellitus. He was a council member and past vice-president of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic society and was a long serving committee member of the Malaysian Osteoporosis Society. In July 2018, he was awarded the DSPN medal by the Governor of Penang which carries the title of Dato’.
I received medical degree in 2001 from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and Masters in Medicine (Radiology) in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2010. I served as a Clinical Radiologist in Hospital Batu Pahat, Johor and later transferred to Hospital Kuala Lumpur in 2011. I did Uro-Radiology subspeciality training in 2012 under Ministry of Health (MOH), Malaysia and University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, USA, which I completed in June 2016. I have a special interest in Body Imaging particularly Uro-Radiology. I actively involved in various conference and multidisciplinary meeting including Urology-Radiology conference, Urology MDT, Colorectal MDT and GyneOncology MDT. Besides I also in charge of the Imaging of Renal Transplant for National Renal Transplantation Program. Apart from involving in training of the post graduate trainees in Masters in Medicine (Radiology) Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, I have been appointed as a supervisor of Body Imaging subspeciality training under Ministry of Health (MOH), Malaysia since 2018 until present.

DR MASNI BINTI MOHAMAD is a consultant endocrinologist at Endocrine Unit, Department of Medicine, Hospital Putrajaya, Putrajaya. She has served there since 2004. She obtained her M.D in Universiti Science Malaysia and proceeded to do her Masters in Internal Medicine in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She completed her subspeciality training which is Endocrinology in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia too. She is actively involved in research and teaching. An honorary lecturer for UiTM undergraduate medical school and UKM Masters program. She is also a trainer for Endocrine subspeciality program under Ministry of Health. Her thrust areas of interest include obesity, diabetes and Thyroid/Parathyroid. She is in charge of the multi disciplinary team obesity clinic in hospital putrajaya. She is currently the vice president of Malaysia Endocrine Metabolic Society (MEMS) council members and an Active Member of The Endocrine Society with a Professional Role of Clinical Practitioner since 2010.
Dr Miza Hiryanti graduated from National University of Malaysia in 2000 and completed her Master degree in Internal Medicine in 2008. She attained her Fellowship in Endocrinology in 2013. She is currently working in Hospital Hospital Sultanah Maliha Langkawi as Head of Medical Department and Endocrinologist. Her special interest is in Diabetes Remission.
Dr. Mohd Faizal Bin Ahmad is a clinical specialist and lecturer of Obstetrician & Gynaecology in Hospital Canselor Tuanku Mukhriz Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HCTM UKM), specializing in Reproductive Endocrinology & Oncofertility. He currently serves as one of the reproductive specialists in Advanced Reproductive Center (ARC) HCTM UKM. In addition to reproductive medicine, he is also interested in the oncofertility field. In 2019, he initiated the oncofertility services under ARC by managing fertility preservation (FP) for oncology cases. Subsequently, he received Takeda Science Foundation Award to pursue his oncofertility fellowship under St Marianna School of Medicine Hospital, Kanagawa, Japan. His training is mainly in the cryobiology field; In-vitro Maturation (IVM), and Ovarian Tissue Cryopreservation (OTC). He obtained the credentialing in IVM & OTC and currently initiated these services under ARC as oncofertility services. He also initiates testicular tissue cryopreservation (TTC) for pre- pubertal research using the mice model under the supervision of Prof Nao Suzuki during his fellowship attachment in Japan. He currently serves as Vice President of Malaysian Society of Fertility Preservation (MSFP) and as Board Member of Asian Society of Fertility Preservation (ASFP) representing Malaysia. He has conducted research, published several papers in reproductive medicine and oncofertility, and presented in national and international congresses. His latest research is mainly on endometriosis – elucidating HOXA 10 expression following GnRH modulator and In-Vitro Maturation Oocytes Quality Assessment via Gene Expression (PTS2, GREM) supported by KPT Research Grant Ministry of Education.
Professor Dr Muhammad Yazid Jalaludin is The Deputy Dean (Undergraduate Studies) at the Faculty of Medicine, University Malaya. He is a Professor of Paediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya and a practicing Senior Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). He completed his fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), USA after obtaining his MBBS and Masters in Paediatrics, both from Universiti Malaya. He is currently the Chairman of the Malaysian Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Group (MPEDG), Vice President of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS 2022-2024), and executive council member of the Diabetes Malaysia (2023-2025). Prof Jalaludin main research interest is in obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, growth (nutrition) and vitamin D in children. He holds many national and international research grants and acts as Scientific Advisor and Expert Panel member for many multi-centre international researches for type 2 diabetes, obesity and growth hormone in children. His work has been published in various academic journals including in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM).
Dr. Nalini M Selveindran is Head of Department and Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at the Hospital Putrajaya, a major referral hospital for endocrine disorders in Malaysia. She currently sits in the Malaysian Medical Council’s subspecialty committee for Paediatric Endocrinology. She is also involved in training and currently sits on the Malaysian Paediatric Endocrinology Subspecialty Training Committee. Besides this. she is involved in the development of the guidelines on the management of childhood obesity, congenital hypothyroidism and is currently the chair of the clinical practice guidelines on ‘Growth Hormone’. With research interests in the field of disorders of sex development and bone disorders, Dr. Nalini’s work has been published in various academic journals. She has numerous experiences presenting in conferences locally and abroad and has won various awards for her work. She is also active in various organisations and is currently in the council of the Malaysian Society for the Study of Obesity and also research head for the Malaysian Paediatric Endocrine Group.
Dr. Navarasi S Raja Gopal is a Consultant Pathologist and Head of Unit at the Histopathology Unit, Department of Pathology, Hospital Putrajaya. She is a board-certified Anatomical Pathologist with expertise in both histopathology and cytology. Dr. Raja Gopal obtained her medical degree (MD) from Davao Medical School Foundation Inc., Philippines, and subsequently completed her Master's degree in Pathology (Anatomical Pathology) at the University of Malaya. She has continuously expanded her knowledge through additional training, including a certificate program in Dermatopathology from Sapporo Dermatopathology Institute, Hokkaido, Japan and subspecialty training in breast and endocrine pathology in United Kingdom. Dr. Raja Gopal is actively involved in professional organizations, having served as Treasurer for the International Anatomical Pathology (Malaysia Division) and currently holding the position of Secretary for the Malaysian Society of Cytology.
Dato’ Dr Nik Ritza Kosai Is currently is a Senior consultant and head of the Upper GI and Bariatric Surgical Unit at the Department of Surgery, Hospital Caselor Tuanku Muhriz, PPUKM since 2011.He graduated from The University of St Andrews Scotland, followed by University of Manchester and post Graduate and fellowship in Northwest of England. Since 2011, he has performed over 3000 bariatric surgeries and over 500 intragastric Balloons. He is very active in teaching and research with over 200 peer reviewed publications, articles, magazines and newspaper editorials . His research interest is in metabolic outcomes following bariatric surgery, oesopahgeal and gastric cancers, helicobacter pylori and gastro-oeosphageal reflux and has received over Rm 2 million in grants. He currently sits in the committee for the National Upper GI surgery subspeciality training programme and currently the President of the Malaysian Metabolic and Bariatric surgical society.
Associate Prof Dr Noor Shafina Mohd Nor is the current Deputy Dean of Postgraduate & Professional Training at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. She is also a consultant paediatrician and a consultant paediatric endocrinologist at Hospital Al-Sultan Abdullah UiTM. She completed her paediatric endocrinology subspecialty training in University Malaya Medical Center, Malaysia and The Children Hospital of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA in 2015. She is the current treasurer for the Malaysian Paediatric Endocrine & Diabetes Group (MPEDG). She has numerous publications in journals, books, chapters in books as well as contributed in the national clinical guidelines. She is an active researcher and her research interest is in the area of Paediatric Endocrinology particularly Diabetes Mellitus, obesity, thyroid disorders and endocrine disruptor chemicals especially Bisphenol A.
Dr Nor Azmi Kamaruddin was the longest serving President (2008-2016) and Vice-President (2001-2008) of the Malaysian Endocrine & Metabolic Society (MEMS). He was the first from South East Asia to sit in the Executive Committee of the International Society of Endocrinology (ISE) (2014-2016). He was also the President of the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies (AFES) from 2013-2015. During his term as President of MEMS among other things, he initiated the MEMS Annual Congress (MAC) in 2009, MEMS’s journal entitled Journal of Endocrinology & Metabolism (JEM), MEMS’s own national research into endocrine diseases (Thyroid & Primary Aldosteronism; My-Endo), the Malaysian Acromegaly Society (My-Acro), the Endocrine Directory and purchased an office for MEMS. He was the longest serving clinician under the late Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr Khalid Kadir till his retirement from UKM in 2003 (1993-2003). Nor Azmi spent a good 2 years undergoing training in Thyroid Diseases at the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield UK (1996-1998).
Professor Dr Norlaila Mustafa is a Deputy Dean Postgraduate and Senior Consultant Phycisian and Endocrinologist in Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (HCTM UKMMC), specializing in Diabetes, Obesity and Endocrinology. She obtained her research degree in diabetes (M.D) from Cardiff University in 2006 and subsequently became their Honorary lecturer from 2009 until 2015. She has conducted researches particularly in diabetes and obesity, published and presented in national and international congresses. She is the advisor for the Diabetes Nurse Educator Course for the hospital since 2007. She is a Secretary General for Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS), Board of Trustee for National Diabetes Institute (NADI) and visiting Consultant Endocrinologist at the National Heart Institute (IJN).
Dr. Norlela Sukor is a Professor of Medicine and Senior Consultant Endocrinologist at the Department of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Center (UKMMC), Kuala Lumpur. She obtained her medical degree from the Universiti Sains Malaysia and subsequently Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She then pursued her training and obtained her Doctor of Philosophy from The University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia in 2009. Dr Norlela Sukor has many credentials. She has won several awards including The University of Queensland Dean’s Award 2009 for Outstanding Research Higher Degree Thesis as well as the Post Graduate Student’s Academic Excellence Award 2009 by the Malaysian Student Council of Australia and Malaysia Department of Australia. She has also been awarded with Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (ACE), making her the first Malaysian woman to receive this recognition. She has many publications, including publications in the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Hypertension and Frontiers in Endocrinology.
Dr Nurain Mohd Noor is a Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist, serving in Hospital Putrajaya. She obtained her medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Malaya in 1994. She pursued her postgraduate studies in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, graduating with a Masters of Medicine (Internal Medicine) in 2002. She is the Chairman of the Medical Research and Ethics Committee (MRECH), and more recently, head of the MOH’s Endocrinology Subspecialty Service. Dr Nurain has a strong passion in advancing the medical research within MOH, and her interest focuses on diabetes, and reproductive medicine. She also has a strong passion in raising health awareness among the general public, and conducts yearly Diabetes Awareness activities. Dr Nurain is the current President of Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS).
Professor Hofman is a paediatric endocrinologist and researcher based at the Liggins Institute, University of Auckland. He has been involved in clinical research for over 30 years and published over 270 papers. He has varied research interests including developmental origins of adult health and disease, paediatric outcomes from assisted reproductive technologies, childhood obesity interventions and new born screening outcomes of congenital adrenal hyperplasia and hypothyroidism. He has been president of both the Australasian Paediatric Endocrine Society and the Asia-Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society and is involved in promoting endocrine training in the Asia Pacific Region as well as improving paediatric endocrine care in resource constrained countries in the Asia Pacific region.
Dr Rashdan Zaki was born in Batu Pahat, Johor. He completed his secondary education in Sekolah Menenggah Sains Johor, Kluang and proceeded to complete his MBBS in University of Malaya. Thereafter, he completed his Masters in Paediatrics. Dr Rashdan begun his Clinical Fellowship Paediatric Endocrinology at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) in 2015 and thereafter in National University Hospital Singapore (NUHS) in 2019. Dr Rashdan has published numerous research papers particularly in the area of diagnosis of Growth Hormone deficiency in childhood as well as child obesity. Dr Rashdan plays an active role in social media platform as well, advocating and promoting child health and safety especially in the field of paediatric endocrinology. He's currently an author of www.doktorbudak.com, an online avenue for parents to get information about child healthcare. Dr Rashdan's articles have been featured in national dailies such as Harian Metro and he also has appeared as panel in various talk shows such as "Obesity di kalangan Kanak-Kanak" and "Disorder of sexual development" in Astro Awani. Dr Rashdan's area of interest includes Metabolic Syndrome in Obese Children and Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD).
Roger Chen is Senior Staff Specialist in Endocrinology at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney and Visiting Scientist at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. He holds academic appointments as Conjoint Professor in Medicine at the University of New South Wales and is Head of the Endocrinology Stream, The Rebecca Cooper Foundation. He is Editor-in-Chief, Endocrinology Today and Senior Editor of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Case Reports. He also has academic appointments at the University of Sydney and University of Technology, Sydney. He has been Medical Lead in the Metabolic Clinic in Mental Health at St Vincent’s Hospital, a cross-disciplinary clinical service aiming to build bridges in mental and metabolic health. His clinical and research interests are in diabetes and its comorbidities as well as in transplant related endocrine disorders. He is on several national and international committees in diabetes care, including the National Diabetes Supply Scheme and Diabetes Australia.
Professor Dr Rohana Abdul Ghani is Professor and Senior Consultant Endocrinologist in Universiti Technology MARA (UiTM). She is currently the Deputy Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Professional Training in the same university. She received her undergraduate education in University College Dublin (UCD), Dublin, Ireland. She pursued her postgraduate studies in Masters in Internal Medicine and subsequently completed her Endocrine Fellowship Training at the National University of Malaysia (UKM). She is actively involved in the teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate programs within the faculty. She is also involved in the Endocrine services including the Weight Management Clinic, with a keen interest in bariatric surgery. She is also actively involved in research, particularly in the areas of diabetes and obesity. She has been a member of the development of various Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) including for Gestational Diabetes in 2019, Management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in 2020 and Management of Obesity in 2022.
Dr See Chee Keong, graduated from University Putra Malaysia in 2006, completed MRCP (UK) in 2012 and Diabetes & Endocrinology fellowship in 2019. He is currently Head of Department of Medicine and Consultant Endocrinologist in Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, Temerloh, Pahang. He is currently the Honorary Secretary of Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society. He has special interest in mens health issues, young diabetes, thyroid disorders, obesity and Acromegaly.
Dr Shanty received her MBBS degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Karnatak University,India in 1997. Thereafter she pursued her post-graduation in Internal Medicine from University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2007. She obtained her Fellowship in Endocrinology in 2012. In the duration of her training, she was attached to Penang Hospital and continued her final attachment in Mater’s Hospital and Princess Alexander Hospital in Brisbane, Australia. At present Dr Shanty is the Consultant Endocrinologist at Penang Hospital and also a Visiting Consultant Endocrinologist at Loh Guan Lye Specialist Centre. She holds the post of Honorary Lecturer in RCSI & UCD Malaysia. She is actively involve in the education and training of Internal Medicine and Endocrinology for both undergraduate and postgraduate students at Penang Hospital and also a member of the task force for national guideline in diabetes. She is also involved in International and National researches related to diabetes and field of Endocrinology.
Dr Sharmila S. Paramasivam is a senior consultant endocrinologist and senior lecturer in UMMC. She plays an active role in clinical work, teaching and research in the field of endocrinology and diabetes, with special interest in thyroidology and bone and mineral disorders. She holds various administrative roles in the department of medicine UMMC and was in the writing committee for the latest Malaysian T2DM 2020 CPG Updates and Malaysian Osteoporosis CPG Updates 2022. She is also actively involved in delivering talks at a national level in the field of endocrinology and diabetes.
Professor Shireene Ratna Vethakkan is currently a Professor in General Medicine and Endocrinology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. She obtained her MBBS from the University of Malaya, and Masters of Internal Medicine from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She then underwent endocrine training at the University of Malaya Medical Centre and a fellowship in endocrinology at the Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes in St. Vincent's Hospital Melbourne. This was followed by an MD (Doctorate of Medicine-Research) at the University of Melbourne focusing on islet-function and insulin-sensitivity in patients with type 1 diabetes post-islet-transplantation. Her expertise lies in the subspecialty of diabetology, in particular, human islet-transplantation, lipotoxicity, and beta-cell function. She is skilled in the evaluation of beta-cell function/insulin sensitivity utilizing computer modeling and the IVGTT, and can also conduct clamp studies. Professor Vethakkan held the position as the Head of Division of Endocrinology, Department of Medicine, University Malaya from 2012 – 2020. She is actively involved in diabetes and endocrinology research, both locally and multicentre clinical trials. She holds several grants and has researched amongst other things: the link between lipemia/maternal BMI and pregnancy outcomes, the impact of ethnicity/culture on Vitamin D insufficiency/therapy in Malaysia, pituitary dysfunction in nasopharyngeal carcinoma survivors, and pharmacogenomics aspects of obesity/diabetes. She has published more than 50 scientific / clinical papers.
Dr Subashini graduated from Melaka Manipal Medical College in 2004. She attained her MRCP(UK) in 2011 and Masters in Internal Medicine from University Malaya in 2012. She then completed her fellowship in Endocrinology in 2016 and has been serving as a Consultant Endocrinologist in Hospital Kuala Lumpur ever since. She has been actively involved in organizing various training activities and courses for endocrinology fellows. She has interest in all divisions of Endocrinology.
Associate Professor Dr Suhaimi is a paediatrician specialising in Paediatric Endocrinology. He did his undergraduate in the Universiti Sains Malaysia and obtained his Medical Doctor in 1996. He completed his Master of Paediatric in 2006 and joined Universiti Sains Malaysia as a medical lecturer. Dr Suhaimi did his fellowship in Paediatric Endocrine training in UMMC, UKMMC (Kuala Lumpur) and NUH (Singapore) in 2011. He is a registered Paediatric Endocrinologist since 2012. He is a member of Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrinology (APPES), International Society for Paediatric Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) and European Society Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE). He has published many papers related to field of Paediatric Endocrinology and appointed as Principal investigators for International trial in diabetes and growth.
Associate Professor Dr Ting Tzer Hwu is a senior medical lecturer in the Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences, University Putra Malaysia (UPM). She is a consultant paediatrician & endocrinologist practising in Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (UPM Teaching Hospital) in Serdang & Hospital Tunku Azizah, Kuala Lumpur. She graduated from the University of Melbourne, Australia; and obtained membership from the UK Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health. She trained in Paediatric endocrinology in UKM medical centre and then completed one-year clinical and research fellowship in Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, Australia. She has publications & research related to paediatric endocrinology. Her research interest is on genetics of endocrine disorders in children.
Dr Tong Chin Voon attained her MD from UKM followed by MRCP and FRCP from Royal College of Physicians (London). She completed her Endocrinology fellowship with Ministry of Health Malaysia in 2015 and is now practicing in Malacca General Hospital. She is actively involved in research and publications. Her special interests include Type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetes in youth and adrenal disorders.
With more than 30 years of experience, Prof Chee has been recognized for her expertise in the field of nutrition & dietetics. Her research interests focus on dietary/lifestyle intervention in diabetes, obesity and bone health nutrition. Prof Chee serves on national & international committees for setting guidelines for medical nutrition therapy and professional development. Prof Chee was the founding Council Member of the Malaysian Dietitians’ Association (MDA) and held the position of President from 2014-2023. Prof Chee also serves in the Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council from 2020-2026. She has received the Fellowship Award from MDA and Nutrition Society of Malaysia. In 2015, she was the recipient of the Wimpfheimer-Guggenheim International Lecture Award from the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics, USA. Prof Chee actively contributes to education programmes for healthcare professionals at national and international level. She is a practicing dietitian at IMU Healthcare
Dr Wong Ming is currently a Consultant Endocrinologist at Sunway Medical Centre. She graduated from Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland and was a lecturer at Pusat Perubatan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and adjunct clinical lecturer at Monash University Malaysia Campus She was involved in Phase 2 and 3 clinical drug trials in diabetes and hypertension. She has been invited to sit on various advisory boards on diabetes and hypertension. She is currently a member of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society. She has published papers in endocrinology and has been invited to speak at regional and local endocrine conferences.
Dr Wu Loo Ling is a senior consultant paediatrician and paediatric endocrinologist, currently practicing in Subang Jaya Medical Centre, Malaysia. Dr. Wu was a former Professor of Paediatrics and Endocrinology in UKM Medical Centre for more than 20 years. She was instrumental in establishing the Paediatric Endocrine services both in UKM as well as in Malaysia. She initiated the formation of the young diabetic support group which has continued to run till today. Dr Wu has trained many specialists who are today paediatricians and paediatric endocrinologists in the country. Dr Wu is an active member of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society, the Malaysian Paediatric Endocrine and Diabetes Group. She was a protem member in the setting up of the Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES) in 1999 and then served as a council member until 2005. Dr Wu had chaired several expert committees in the development of Clinical Practice Guidelines in Malaysia. Dr. Wu’s passion is in clinical work and teaching. She has special interest in children with type 1 diabetes mellitus, growth disorders and disorders of sex development.
Yong Sy Liang is a clinical endocrinologist in Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Klang. Received his undergraduate training in Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. Subsequently, he completed his training in Fellowship in Endocrinology under the guidance of Professor Dr Wan Mohamed Wan Bebakar, Professor Dr Mafauzy, Professor Mustaffa Embong, Professor Dr Nor Azmi Kamaruddin, Professor Norlaila Mustafa, Datuk Dr Zanariah, Dr Nurain and Dr Masni.
Dr. Zanariah Hussein is a Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist. She is currently the Head of the Endocrine Unit, Hospital Putrajaya and Head of the Endocrinology Subspecialty Service of the Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH). She chairs the MOH endocrine fellowship training program, MOH endocrine drug review committee and Endocrine Subspecialty Subcommittee of the National Specialist Register. She is active in undergraduate, postgraduate and fellowship teaching and training. She has been involved in the development of local Clinical Practice Guidelines for diabetes, obesity, thyroid disease, growth hormone therapy, dyslipidemia and CV prevention in women. Her areas of clinical and research interest are diabetes technology, adrenal and neuroendocrine tumours. She is a Past President of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS). She is a member of the advisory boards for the National Diabetes Institute (NADI) and Malaysian Diabetes Educator Society (MDES).
Professor Dato’ Dr Zulkifli Md Zainuddin is a senior consultant urologist with extensive experience and qualifications. He currently serves as the Head of Urology Unit at the Medical Faculty of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Dr Zulkifli earned his Bachelor of Medical Science, Medical Doctor (MD), and Masters in Surgery (General Surgery) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He further his expertise with fellowships in Urology from both the Royal Adelaide Hospital and the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow. Dr Zulkifli is actively involved in numerous professional organizations, including serving as President of the Malaysian Society of Andrology and the Study of Aging Male (MSASAM) and holding leadership positions in the Malaysian Urology Association and the JAPAN ASEAN Men's Health Council. His dedication extends to research, evidenced by his role as an external reviewer for esteemed journals. Dr Zulkifli's special interests lie in Men's Health, Prostate Health, and Voiding Dysfunction, making him a valuable asset to the field of urology. He is also the Programme Director for the Health For Malaysia Programme.
