Nor Azmi Kamaruddin was formerly the President (2008-2016) and Vice-President (2001-2008) of the Malaysian Endocrine & Metabolic Society (MEMS). He was the first from South-East Asia to be elected as an Executive Committee Member of the International Society of Endocrinology (ISE)(2014-2016). He was the President of the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies (AFES) from 2013-2015. During his tenure as President of MEMS, he helped initiated the MEMS Annual Congress (MAC) in 2009, MEMS’s journal entitled Journal of Endocrinology & Metabolism (JEM), MEMS’s own national research into endocrine diseases (Thyroid & Primary Aldosteronism; My-Endo), the Malaysian Acromegaly Society (My-Acro), the Endocrine Directory and purchased an office for MEMS. He was trained in Laboratory Endocrinology in Institute of Medical Research (IMR)(1994-1995), Clinical Endocrinology under the late Prof Khalid Kadir UKM (1995-2003) and Molecular Thyroidology under Prof Anthony Weetman, Northen General Hospital Sheffield (1996-1998). After retirement as Head of Endocrinology in UKM he was invited to join IJN.
