Dr. Norlela Sukor is a Professor of Medicine and Senior Consultant Endocrinologist at the Department of Medicine, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC), Kuala Lumpur. She is a highly accomplished academic and clinician, with numerous accolades to her name. Among her notable achievements are the University of Queensland Dean’s Award for Outstanding Research Higher Degree Thesis and the Postgraduate Student Academic Excellence Award (2009). She is also a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (ACE), becoming the first Malaysian woman to receive this prestigious distinction. She plays an active role in shaping national healthcare policy and was a member of the executive and task force committees for the 2015 and 2020 Malaysian Clinical Practice Guidelines on the Management of T2DM. Dr. Norlela has published extensively in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, including publications in the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, and Hypertension. Recently her paper entitled “The effect of vitamin D on the clinical and biochemical outcomes of primary aldosteronism” was awarded as the top cited article in Clinical Endocrinology. She currently serves as the Vice President of the ASEAN Network of Adrenal Hypertension (ANAH), further underscoring her regional leadership in the field of endocrinology.
