Simon Pearce qualified in Medicine MB,BS 1st class honours from Newcastle University. Following internal medicine training in Newcastle, Leeds and London, he undertook postgraduate training in endocrinology at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, Hammersmith, London (MD degree awarded with distinction); Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston, USA; and latterly as a Wellcome Trust Advanced fellow in Newcastle, UK. He is a past Editor-in-Chief of European Thyroid Journal (2019-2024), and past President of the British Thyroid Association (2020-2023) and has published more than 200 papers, with a focus on understanding the pathogenesis and improving treatments for autoimmune thyroid diseases, including several early phase trials in Graves’ disease.
