Dr Kuan Yueh Chien is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Physician at Miri Hospital, Sarawak, Malaysia, with a special interest in diabetes, thyroid disorders and calcium metabolism. She obtained her Doctor of Medicine from the National University of Malaysia and later completed the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK). She was gazetted as a Physician in Internal Medicine in 2011 and as an Endocrinologist by the Malaysian Ministry of Health in 2016.   

Dr Kuan previously served as Resident Endocrinologist at Sarawak General Hospital and has contributed to national clinical guidelines, including the Malaysian Practical Guide to Inpatient Glycaemic Care and the Malaysian CPG on Management of Thyroid Disorders.   

She believes improving the food environment and transforming the food industry are essential to curb overeating and are central to the fight against the national obesity epidemic. She also advocates for equitable healthcare access, particularly for vulnerable communities in the interiors of Sarawak.
